About the team
Floury Fingers is owned and run by Zoë Liddle
I can’t really remember a time when I didn’t like cooking. At school my domestic science teacher was very (very) keen on me to go into catering. But……I’ve always know that catering is not my thing. I love cooking, I love food and I love cooking for other people but not on such a massive scale. So off I went to university got a degree in Psychology and then went into project management.
Then I had my 3 lovely boys and knew I didn’t want that sort of career anymore. For a while I voluntarily ran the local playgroup. As part of these sessions I would do little foodie themes and all the children, not to mention the adults, loved them! From this very small acorn grew Floury Fingers.
Floury Fingers has been established so that I can share my skills and passions with other parents or carers and their children. Each course has be written so that it supports curriculum teaching, promotes Family Learning and healthy food choices.
I also understand that us adults need a little direction sometimes so have also developed the adult courses.
I work with head teachers from around the area and have links with the Primary Care Trust. I have written resource packs for Wakefield NHS and their Cook4Life project. In conjunction with Wakefield NHS and Cook4Life I run courses and train volunteers.
Over the past 4 years I have helped many schools gain funding to resource this valuable work. So far we have been successful in gaining funds to the tune of £180,000
I have been CRB checked with enhanced disclosure and have completed a food hygiene certificate.
I am a member of the BBC Good Food panel and am seriously contemplating applying to appear on Come Dine with Me!!!.
My favourite food? Well it’s difficult to narrow it down. I love a good curry and a massive bowl of pasta (not at the same time obviously) and the world would not be bearable without chocolate in all its many forms.

Awaiting text…..
Janine Harris Mears
Janine wouldn’t write her little bit to appear on here so I have had to do it. Janine and I ‘found’ each other when I started delivering sessions at the school where she was Governor and a volunteer in school.
Now I’m a little set in my ways it has to be said…..when I saw Janine setting out the chopping boards with all the handles facing the same way, all the knives pointing the same way and the bowls all in the same position I knew we were going to be good friends.
Since then we have delivered many a theme week, focus events and inspire days together. Janine does what she can when she can as she has 4 children (aged 11 and triplets that are now 8) that obviously take up most of her time. She does all this work voluntarily for Floury Fingers.
Janine’s love Chinese and Indian food and of course….chocolate.
A massive thank you Janine – you are my star and a one in a million friend.
And while we are talking about people that have helped Floury Fingers I can’t leave this page without mentioning a few more.
First up, the lovely Rachel Rayner at the Glasshougton Centre who was mad enough to let me run my first ever course there. Since then she has continued to be a massive support and inspiration. Floury Fingers would not be where it is today without Rachel.
Rach’s favourite food is moules and frites or any seafood.
Lindsay and Lee Scargill (and their beautiful daughters), without whom I would have gone mad by now. They have, on many many occasions, listened to me droning on about the business and never complained. They have helped with so much. They are one fantastic family and I am truly honoured to be part of their lives.
Both these amazing people love a good rib eye steak and homemade chips. Lindz would have this with salad (which Lee hates) and Lee would have it with peas (which Lindz hates).
Thanks guys.
And of course the one and only Peter Liddle, my lovely husband. His unofficial job title is Stock Control Manager as he normally ends up doing the last minute shopping runs, takes constant deliveries and basically humours me and my madness. His favourite food is anything with cherries in, particularly cherry frangipane.
Thank you ‘team’ xx |
